This Tuesday, Doomfist will make his debut in the Overwatch world, bringing his hard-hitting style to the table and promising to be a big hit for players who prefer some form of close-range combat. But some people may feel like something may be missing – the voice of Terry Crews.

For months, fans have been clamoring for the actor to portray Doomfist – and he was pretty fond of the idea as well. However, in the end, the role went to veteran actor Sahr Ngaujah.

Crews isn't too worried about what happened, and is pretty fond of the character. But some folks are still looking for some form of explanation in terms of why he wasn't included. Well, it appears we've finally got it.

Speaking with GameSpot, Blizzard senior designer Michael Chu noted, "We love Terry. Terry's awesome. He came and visited us. We had a great time. But when we were looking for Doomfist, we were looking for something very specific given his role in the game and everything. When we were early in the audition process, we heard Sahr, who's the actor who plays Doomfist, and he just blew us away immediately. Once we heard his voice, it was like, 'Holy crap. That's Doomfist.'" He brings a number of "flavors" to the role, according to Chu, and can "bring all these different aspects of the character to life."

That doesn't mean Crews is being shut out of the game, tho. There's always a possibility that he could be introduced with a new character that's a better fit for his style.

Meanwhile, don't feel bad for Crews. He's keeping busy enough as a central character in the upcoming Xbox One exclusive Crackdown 3. He was introduced with the game last month at E3, and recently made an appearance during a panel for the game at San Diego Comic-Con. So, yeah, he's getting plenty of video game love.

Meanwhile, players can venture into the world of Doomfist when his character debuts in just a couple of days across all versions of Doomfist. He's sure to be a real hard-hitter.

Overwatch is available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
