Earlier this week, after months of non-stopping hinting and fan speculation, Blizzard finally unleashed the hard-hitting new Overwatch character, Doomfist. Sadly, Doomfist isn’t voice by Terry Crews (as had long been rumored), but his addition is nevertheless one of the biggest Overwatch events to date.

Pummeling enemies into submission with Doomfist’s massive metallic mitts is pretty fun, and one of the rare times when you can’t help but think, “Y’know, this would be even more awesome with motion controls.” Well, Twitch streamer ATwerkinYoshi (a fine handle) has gone and made that a reality.

ATwerkinYoshi connected a Wiimote to a boxing glove, so he can control Doomfist by actually punching, and his invention seems to work pretty well. Here’s how he describes the system:

“It’s been a while since I’ve made a controller to play a game. This time I wired up a boxing glove and used the Wii-mote’s motion controls to play Doomfist! The idea is simple: Throw a punch, punch in game. Uppercut, uppercut in game! Flail around and you might do some weird combo! Motion controls still needs fine-tunning, but since Doomfist is in PTR I have time to perfect it. For a day’s work, I think it turned out great!”

You can check out video of the Doomfist glove in action the top of this post. This isn’t the first time ATwerkinYoshi has made headlines for playing a game with an odd controller โ€“ previously, he figured out a way to play Dark Souls III with a Rock Band drum controller. I hate to say it, but maybe this guy needs to get out more.

Doomfist is currently available on PC via the Overwatch public test servers. The new hero should be released to everybody, including console players, sometime soon.
