PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has swept the Steam store by storm and amassed a staggering number of players in a short time, and though Xbox fans hope it'll do the same on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 owners might have something to hope for, too.

So far, the Xbox is the only console that PUBG has been announced for, news that came back during E3 in the summer. Xbox fans rejoiced at the prospect of taking part in the battle royale game, but there hasn't been any definite word of a PS4 version. While Microsoft is publishing the game when it comes to its console, a move that's led to speculation about how long Xbox will have the exclusive, a recent Bloomberg interview with PUBG's developer, Bluehole, confirmed that they're looking for a bit more than just the Xbox.

Speaking to Bluehole's founder Chang Byung-gyu, Bloomberg reported that the company has "had talks" with all of the major console companies to discuss ways that they could broaden the scope of PUBG. They added that Microsoft already has their version planned out to release sometime later during this year, but looking beyond that, PlayStation is on the horizon. There's no confirmed release, let alone a date or a timeframe, but the interview with Byung-gyu confirmed that Sony was also speaking to Bluehole about a PlayStation version.

Considering the amount of success that PUBG has had so far, it's no wonder that each console would hope to have a version for their audience. Taking into consideration Bluehole's comments about talking to each of the gaming console companies, that also means that they're likely at least holding talks with Nintendo as well, but the PlayStation version seems to be the more definite release.

For now, the closest that PlayStation owners can get to getting the last-man-standing game on their console is by playing Fortnite, a game that just recently launched its own battle royale-style game mode. The move has stirred up a bit of controversy since Epic Games decided to incorporate the game mode with PUBG displeased at the similarities, but until the hit Steam game finds its way to the PS4, players will have to make do elsewhere.
