As WWG predicted several months ago, a Shiny Tapu Koko event has begun in Pokemon Sun and Moon. Players can grab this rare variant of the Melemele Island Guardian by logging into their Mystery Gift function on their games and choosing the "Get via Internet" option. Once Shiny Tapu Koko is downloaded, players can pick up the Pokemon at any Pokemon Center.

Unlike a normal Tapu Koko, Shiny Tapu Koko has a black outer shell. The Pokemon's orange parts are also a slightly different shade than its regular counterpart.

The Pokemon Company is releasing Shiny Tapu Koko to celebrate the release of a new "Shiny Tapu Koko GX" box for the Pokemon Trading Card Game. The box comes with a promo variant of the Tapu Koko GX card (featuring a Shiny Tapu Koko) as well as five booster packs.

Shiny Tapu Koko comes at Level 60 and knows the moves Nature's Madness, Discharge, Agility, and Electro Ball. It also comes holding Electric Seed, which boosts its Defense whenever Electric Terrain is in play.

Notably, this is the only way players can get a Shiny Tapu Koko. The Pokemon is "Shiny Locked," meaning that Pokemon Sun and Moon will never generate the Pokemon in its shiny form. That means this event is the only way to get a Shiny Tapu Koko.

No end date has been announced for the event, so it's recommended you get your Shiny Tapu Koko as soon as possible.
