It'll be a while before we get a chance to try out Call of Duty: WWII – unless you're headed to E3, that is. However, Sledgehammer Games, the developers behind the forthcoming return to World War II, has recently announced a neat little giveaway that will let you experiment with its old-school weaponry before the game is released.

The studio's co-founder, Michael Condrey, recently took to Twitter to announce a neat little cyber giveaway, where select fans will be able to win WWII weapons for use in the company's previous game, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. While he didn't note which weapons would be up for grabs, mainly they're likely to be pistols or assault rifles, which should pretty good in the heat of battle – even going up against Advanced Warfare's more contemporary weaponry.

"Want a taste of WWII in MP?" he noted. "Each weekend until E3, we'll be giving away a classic WWII weapon within COD:AW starting Fridays @ 10am PST – xoxo."

He didn't note whether this would be the starting weekend for said weapons, and didn't make any additional notes on Twitter, so more than likely, this promotion will be starting up next week, with new weapons added.

As for how they'll be given away, Condrey didn't make note of that either, but it'll likely be something tied in with social media, or maybe even Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare multiplayer contests, where the winning team will be awarded the weapons to be used in their arsenal. We're pretty sure that Sledgehammer will have more details on it soon, considering that there are only so many weeks before the Electronic Entertainment Expo takes place, leaving less opportunities to walk away with a cool weapon. We'll keep you informed once official details are announced.

Call of Duty: WWII should be quite a big draw at this year's event, with Activision more than likely planning some kind of multiplayer set-up, where people can see just how well the "boots to the ground" gameplay works. And if you can't play it there, don't worry – a Private Beta will be making the rounds soon.

Call of Duty: WWII releases on November 3rd for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
