Over the years, we've heard a number of great songs in Sonic the Hedgehog games, like "Follow Me" in Sonic Adventure 2 (c'mon, you remember that one) as well as that vibrant soundtrack from Sonic R. So…why change a thing that works so well?

Sega has revealed that the forthcoming Sonic Forces has an official theme song, and premiered it in a new video, which you can see above. Though there's no actual gameplay going on with the video, you do at the very least get a nice little background that hints at the battle that lies ahead within the game.

The theme is called "Fist Bump," and if the lead singer sounds familiar, that's because it's none other than Douglas Robb, who headlines the band Hoobastank. (Anyone remember when "The Reason" was a top 40 hit?) The music itself was composed and arranged by Sonic series musician Tomoya Ohtani, with assisted string arrangement by Takahito Eguchi.

It's definitely something that fits with the Sonic theme, and if you're a fan of Hoobastank, having Robb along for the ride is a nice little bonus.

Sonic Forces releases this holiday season for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
