In case you missed the news earlier today, thirteen classic original Xbox games will be backwards compatible with the Xbox One starting tomorrow. These include a handful of cult classics, including Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Crimson Skies: High Road To Revenge, and Ninja Gaiden Black, amongst others.
But how much will these games be enhanced? Obviously we know they’ll look better on the Xbox One S, but some fans have been wondering just how much the envelope will be pushed with their appearance on Xbox One X. Well, thanks to Microsoft, we actually have a better idea.

Halo 3
First off, to show the stark differences between Xbox 360 and Xbox One X, Microsoft got started on the right foot with a video featuring Halo 3, where the textures look way better using Microsoft’s latest hardware. We didn’t get to see the footage in motion on the Xbox One X hardware, but we do see screenshots that provide a good idea of just how beautiful it’ll look. You can see that video above.
The other Halo games should look pretty sweet once they’re updated as well, with The Master Chief Collection getting an upgrade sometime in early 2018. For now, Halo 3 will definitely suffice.
Halo 3’s The Pit
Microsoft apparently can’t get enough of showing off the improvements to Halo 3 on the Xbox One X, so it’s made yet another video that shows just how nicely the in-game stage The Pit cleans up on the Xbox One X. Textures look better here as well, and it appears that you can see stark differences with other things in the environment. Plus, that plasma bladeโฆabsolutely stunning. It makes us wonder just how amazing the other in-game weapons will look. Or, more importantly, how it runs in action. Hopefully we’ll see someย footage ofย Halo 3 in action soon enough. Like, explosions and stuff.
Fuzion Frenzy
One would think that a party game wouldn’t need to get that many improvements to run on the Xbox One X. However, the slight changes made to the Xbox classic Fuzion Frenzy are quite notable on the Xbox One X. First off, character models look much clearer than they do on the original Xbox hardware. The stage design is also fantastic, with better lighting and a steady frame rate that moves just a slight bit faster than the original game. And, look, running video! It really gives you an idea of how wonderful these games will resemble. Now if we could just check out Crimson Skies: High Road To Revenge in actionโฆ
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Finally, here’s the big one, especially when it comes to the game that’s involved. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic will be playable on Xbox One starting tomorrow, and Xbox One X when it releases next month. It runs in motion as well, especially when it comes to improved character models and level smoothness. In other words, KOTOR has never looked better than it does here. It makes us wonder how other Star Wars games would perform on the new system. The Force Unleashed II? Star Wars: Battlefront II? The possibilities are definitely endless.
The Xbox One X arrives on November 7th.
