If there is one thing people would be wary of, it’s someone who can change thoughts and emotions at will. In the Marvel Universe, fans are cautious of men like Professor X because of his unprecedented telepathic abilities. And, up in space, the Guardians of the Galaxy have their own hands full with women like Mantis. The staple character is a mainstay of the comic book series, and she will soon make her big screen debuted in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. And, now, the actress who plays Mantis is dishing about how the character’s roles actually work.
ComicBook.com had the chance to speak with Pom Klementieff on-set, and the actress was willing to give a few details about her character up. When the starlet was asked about Mantis and her powers, Klementieff said she can change the emotions of other peope.

“I don’t want to give too much. There is not a lot of things to say about that,” she explained. “She feels things, you know, by touching people. So she can feel things and change emotions.”
Fans have already gotten a taste of how Mantis’ powers will work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the first trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, fans watched as Mantis hilariously read Star-Lord’s amorous affection for Gamora to a crowded room – and Drax thought it was the funniest thing he’s ever seen.
Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is written and directed by James Gunn (Slither). The film marks the return of the original Guardians, including Chris Pratt (Jurassic World) as Peter Quill/Star-Lord; Zoe Saldana (Star Trek Into Darkness) as Gamora; Dave Bautista (Spectre) as Drax; Vin Diesel (Furious 7) as the voice of Groot; Bradley Cooper (American Sniper) as the voice of Rocket; Michael Rooker (Jumper) as Yondu; Karen Gillan (The Big Short) as Nebula; and Sean Gunn (Gilmore Girls) as Kraglin. New cast members include Pom Klementieff (Oldboy), Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby, Everest), Chris Sullivan (The Knick, The Drop) and Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight, The Thing).
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on May 5, 2017.
