The first trailer for Thor: Ragnarok is out, and it gave us our first real insight into a very different movie for the Thor franchise, thanks to director Taika Waititi.

One of the big standout of the first trailer was no doubt the Gladiator version of Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk – but right behind him, the standout of the trailer was no doubt Cate Blanchett’s Hela, the main villain of the film.
Marvel fans have long been speculating about the bigger role Hela may play in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – and this Thor: Ragnarok trailer suggest that she will be a uniquely powerful Marvel villain, with some depth and complexity to her character. Let’s take a look at a few new Images of Cate Blanchett’s Hela in Thor: Ragnarok.

Hela makes one hell of an entrance into the Marvel Cinematic Universe – appearing in an alleyway,ย Highlanderย style, to do battle with Thor.ย
In what is already an iconic piece of MCUย imagery, Helaย stops Mjolnirย at full-throttle hurl, and shatters the mythic hammer to pieces. If it wasn’t clear before, she’s a game-changing villain.ย

As you can see above,ย Thor: Ragnarokย has a nice Easter egg nod to Hela’sย costume from Marvel Comics.ย
We can’t say for sure, but scenes featuring Helaย in this costume seem to take place in flashback, which is a common placeย that MCUย projects drop Eater eggs references to flamboyant comic book costumes of the past.ย

After that Black Panther debuts on February 16, 2018, while Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on May 4, 2018.
