Marvel Comics has provided ComicBook.com with an exclusive first look at Rob Liefeld’s variant cover to Deadpool: Back in Black #1.
Videos by ComicBook.com
Liefeld created Deadpool in 1991’s New Mutants #98 and had a cameo in the 2016 Deadpool movie. He’s also known for co-creating Cable, who will be featured in Deadpool 2, and the paramilitary mutant team called X-Force.
Deadpool: Back in Black is a sequel to Deadpool’s Secret Secret Wars. In Deadpool’s Secret Secret Wars, fans learned the previously untold story of Deadpool’s adventures during the original Secret Wars event, in which he discovered the symbiote that would later become Spider-Man’s black costume and eventually Venom.
Deadpool: Back in Black flashes back to the 1980s era of Marvel Comics to tell the story of how, after being rejected by Spider-Man, the Venom symbiote sought out and rejoined with Deadpool. The story will offer fans a glimpse into what Deadpool was doing during an era that predates Deadpool’s actual creation.
