Ever since he was teased during one of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2‘s post credit scenes, fans have been eagerly anticipating the official Marvel Cinematic Universe arrival of Adam Warlock.
But according to Guardians director and writer, James Gunn, fans might need to wait a little while longer to find out more about the cosmic character.

During a recent Facebook Q&A, Gunn was asked if the role of Adam has already been cast for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. But as Gunn explained, Vol. 3 is too early on in development – with Gunn only recently finishing the second draft of the film’s treatment – to even guarantee that Adam will be in the film.
While this might seem frustrating for fans hoping to see the character in live action, Gunn’s answer doesn’t indicate that Adam won’t be in Vol. 3 – just that it’s too early for him to confirm his appearance.
After Adam Warlock was written out of an early draft of Vol. 2, and will be missing in action from the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War, it appears that Gunn and Marvel Studios are taking their time to properly develop Adam in the MCU – even if it might take longer than some fans had hoped.
