The first season of Jessica Jones introduced many fans to one of Marvel's most notorious villains, Zebediah Kilgrave. Known as The Purple Man, Kilgrave acted as Jessica's main antagonist as the vigilante struggled to remove herself from the villain's control, leading Kilgrave to suffer eventually a taste of his own medicine. Since the show's first season ended, fans have been wondering just how Jessica Jones could outdo the skin-crawling villain. And, now, Melissa Ronseberg those fans' question.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, the executive producer spoke about Jessica Jones' second season and revealed the show may be looking for new villains - as in plural.

When asked how Rosenberg's team will approach the new antagonist, the EP answered by saying, "Or antagonists, plural. No one is ever going to beat David Tennant as Kilgrave, so you don't do that." She went on to explain that, "The biggest mistake would be to try to repeat that. You just go, "OK, we're not doing that, so we have this open to us."

Of course, Rosenberg was unwilling to spoil the surprise of who these villains could be, but fans believe they'll get a few hints as to who the characters are following The Defenders. After all, that Netflix series will need to finish production before Jessica Jones' second season can head underway. Some fans, though, already believe the show has set up one particular villain with Nuke as portrayed by Officer Bill Simpson.

For now, fans will simply have to keep guessing about which super-villain will be giving Jessica a hard time next season. But, according to Rosenberg, the heroine definitely won't be going at anything alone. The executive producer indicated that the show's team is interested in exploring the friendship between Jessica and Trish Walker even more so next season. "That [their friendship] is the core relationship in the piece. It is about female friendship, it is about how friends evolve — they're sisters, really — and it's about how they evolve and ping off each other," she said.

While no official release date has been set for its second season yet, Jessica Jones is expected to return sometime in 2018.
