Marvel TV and Netflix know just how to mess with fans, and the two are proving it these days. Despite a mysterious promo campaign, The Punisher has yet to unveil its actual release date. And, now, it seems the latest report regarding its premiere has been debunked.
If you have been keeping up with The Punisher, then you know rumors continue to crop up about its release date. Earlier this week, a persistent report popped up online stating that The Punisher would hit Netflix on October 13, 2017. Screen Rant says that just isn't the case though.
The website posted an exclusive piece earlier today combating the rumors surrounding the Netflix series. Screen Rant writes that a source "suggests The Punisher date isn't the official one Netflix is shooting for." The tipper wasn't able to provide any more details about the premiere, but Screen Rant says fans should rule out October 13.
For fans, it looks like they're at the mercy of Netflix when it comes to The Punisher. Plenty thought the October date suited the series as many of Marvel's series debut online eight weeks after their first teasers drop. The Punisher revealed its first-look on August 18, so the math did work out. However, there is other evidence which points to the series having a November debut.
In the past, one of the episode directors for The Punisher let slip a detail about the series. Dearbhla Walsh told The Hollywood Reporter her episode would come out in November; Netflix releases its original series all at once, so the comments imply that November will house the premiere of The Punisher. Fans have continued to speculate the series may drop near November 11 as that marks Veteran's Day, a holiday which Frank Castle has close ties with.
Hopefully, Marvel fans will be let in on the show's secret soon enough. The Punisher appears to be hyping fans up ahead of New York Comic-Con next month, so here's to hoping the release date drops during the convention!
