Fox's X-Men franchise has seen a bit of an upswing over the last few years. With the success of Deadpool and the anticipation building over X-Men Apocalypse, it's time to focus on the future with Fox's upcoming New Mutants spin-off.
The Josh Boone directed film reportedly (via HitFix) has three of its mutants already cast. Maisie Williams, known to most as Arya Stark from Game of Thrones, has been cast as the feral Wolfsbane, while Anya Taylor-Joy will be playing fan favorite (and personal favorite of mine) sister of Colossus Illyana Rasputin, now known as Magik. They'll be joined by Alexandra Shipp, who plays Storm in the upcoming X-Men Apocalypse.
Expect more casting soon, as the roles of Cannonball, Sunspot, and Danielle Moonstar still need to be cast. Moonstar is my favorite of the original team, so I'm interested to see who they cast. In any event, it's nice to see the studio start to focus on some new members of the X franchise.
