Answering one of the questions he’s asked most often, Blade and Major League star Wesley Snipes told fans on Twitter that “the ball’s in Marvel’s court” on him returning to the role of Blade the Vampire Hunter, and said that he would never rule it out.

These sentiments echo things he’s already said in the past, but feel a bit more important this time around with rumors of a Blade series in development at Netflix, spinning out of the world of Marvel’s Defenders and sharing a space with Daredevil and Jessica Jones.
When it comes to another BLADE, there’s always a possibility. 😁#SharpeningMyTeeth

Snipes’s Blade was the first R-rated comic book movie to be a genuine hit, and interest in the franchise has been reinvigorated in the wake of Deadpool‘s critical and commercial success. The original film and its two sequels combined for over $200 million at the domestic box office, back before comic book movies routinely made hundreds of millions of dollars.
The original trilogy, in which Snipes starred alongside actors like Kris Kristofferson and Ryan Reynolds, was released through Warner Bros.’ New Line Cinema imprint before Marvel Studios had taken shape. Man of Steel and The Dark Knight‘s David S. Goyer worked with Guillermo del Toro to bring the films to life.
In 2006, after the film series had concluded, the franchise headed to the small screen where current DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns served as a writer on Blade: The Series.
