Will Netflix Marvel Characters Appear In Avengers: Infinity War? Russos Weigh In

While Marvel TV's favorite catch phrase seems to be "Everything's connected," on the film side of things that hasn't been as much the case. While one S.H.I.E.L.D./Hydra agent went from the films to the TV show and back into the films in Captain America: Winter Soldier and season one of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., outside of Jasper Sitwell there hasn't been much in the film world to acknowledge that the TV ones exist.

This is more prevalent now than ever, with the success of the Marvel TV and Netflix collaborations Daredevil and Jessica Jones. By the time the next Avengers movie, Infinity War Part 1 hits theaters in May 2018, we'll also have had Luke Cage and Iron Fist, and possibly even the team-up adventure The Defenders. Plus there's S.H.I.E.L.D. (with its many superpowered characters via the Inhumans), and Cloak and Dagger, and Marvel's Most Wanted... Marvel TV Jeph Loeb told Comicbook.com at any given time there are around 10 shows in active development.

The question fans of both sides of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been asking, then, is whether we'll ever see characters from those shows go the other direction, showing up on the big screen. With a cosmic villain like Thanos and universe-altering implications, it would seem like a good time for "all hands on deck," after all.

When asked that question by BadTaste.it on the European press tour for Captain America: Civil War, writers/directors of both that film and the two-part Infinity War started out with a hearty laugh - obviously, they've heard the question before and/or expected it to be asked often.

"The Marvel Universe is sprawling - the Marvel Cinematic Universe is enormous. Just think of all the characters that haven't been introduced yet that are going to be introduced by the time that we're working on Infinity War," Joe Russo said. "We have a tough task just telling the stories of the characters who exist [on the big screen] in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, let alone adding the entire Marvel Television universe," he said.

Don't lose hope though, TV fans.

"Anything is possible in the Marvel Universe. It's certainly something we're considering," he teased. "But our focus is on telling the stories of the characters that currently exist on the movie side."

It sounds, from that tease, like there's at least been discussion, but if its anything it'd be more likely to be a cameo than say, Daredevil joining the Avengers.
