When a sequel was announced to Snow White and the Huntsman, just after word had leaked that star Kristen Stewart had been involved with an affair with the director of the first film, there were rumors that Stewart wouldn't return for the sequel.

It wasn't long before director Rupert Sanders was out instead, with Stewart expected to return -- but the latest story is that director Frank Darabont, he of The Shawshank Redemption and The Walking Dead fame, will direct the film, which is being envisioned as a starring vehicle for titular Huntsman Chris Hemsworth with little or no Snow White at all.

The "Snow White" may be dropped from the title altogether, according to the report, although Charlize Theron is also expected to reprise her role as the evil queen, who was left trapped in her mirror at the end of the first film.

The Wrap reports that Darabont beat out Gavin O'Connor and Andy Muschietti, and should get a formal offer soon to direct the film.
