Marvel's Agent Carter premiered to a 1.9 rating and 6.7 million viewers overall last night (via Variety). While this pales in comparison to the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. premiere, which earned a 4.7 rating and 12.1 million viewers, it does beat all of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s second season episodes outside of the season premiere.

Agent Carter placed second in its timeslot, behind NCIS and NCIS: New Orleans on CBS, which brought in 2.5 ratings and 12.1 million viewers.

Agent Carter seemed to have some trouble keeping the attention of younger viewers. The two-part premiere started strong, with a 2.0 in the key demographic during its first half hour, but dropped to 1.7 by the last half hour.

Agent Carter's numbers are solid but not spectacular by the standards of highly publicized series premieres, but to see the show match Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.is a good sign. We'll see how it fares in its second week.

Agent Carter airs Tuesday nights on ABC.
