Captain America The Winter Soldier

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Captain America: The Winter Soldier is on track for an impressive opening weekend take of $80-85 million domestically. This follows a trend seen with Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World. Each sequel has had significantly higher opening weekend sales compared to their pre-Avengers predecessors. Of course, none of them have come close to touching The Avengers' record setting domestic opening weekend box office total of $207.4 million. Following the success of The Avengers, Iron Man 3 brought in $171.1 million in its opening weekend, compared to $128.1 for Iron Man 2's opening weekend. Thor: The Dark World brought in $85.7 million in its opening weekend, compared to a $65.7 million take for Thor. Captain America: The First Avengers did $65.7 million in its opening weekend at the box office. Early reviews for Captain America: The Winter Soldier have been nothing short of glowing. Marvel Studios was so impressed that they wasted no time in signing up directors Anthony and Joe Russo for the next Captain America film. In Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and battles a new threat from old history: the Soviet agent known as the Winter Soldier. Captain America: The Winter Soldier comes to theaters April 4, 2014.
