This past weekend, thousands of fans descended upon San Diego for the city's annual comic convention. The international event featured tons of panels, signings, and vendor booths that catered to all sorts of entertainment mediums. From comic books to voice acting, SDCC has something for every fandom to enjoy, and this year's attendees were understandably sad to bid the convention farewell. Now, to help relieve those fans' sorrow, SDCC has gone ahead and released its dates for 2017.

Posted on the convention's website, an update has let fans know when they can expect to see SDCC return next year. "Comic-Con International: San Diego returns to the San Diego Convention Center in 2017, beginning with Preview Night on Wednesday, July 19, and running Thursday, July 20 through Sunday, July 23. 2017 marks the 48th year for the show, making it the country's longest continuously-run comics and popular arts convention," the statement reads.

Prior to that, the SDCC crew gave a big thanks to everyone who attended the event and helped make the convention happen. "Thanks to everyone—attendees, exhibitors, panel participants, professionals, volunteers, and staff—who made Comic-Con International 2016 such a great show ... we couldn't do it without YOU!"

The official 2017 dates don't differ much from SDCC's normal time-frame as the convention is usually held during late July.

For those fans who've not been able to attend SDCC, maybe 2017 will be your chance to start a new tradition. Sure, the convention might have some impressively long lines and sits underneath California's hot summer sun - but think about the positives! The convention houses some of the world's most innovative pieces of tech and pop culture, and everything from anime to tabletop games can be found on the show's dealer floor.

So, are any of you hoping to head out to SDCC next year? If so, let us know what you're most looking forward in the comments below!
