DC Comics has announced that they will be shutting down their message boards as part of a new update to the DCComics.com website. According to DC Entertainment, an entirely new and redesigned website will be launching in the early part of March 2012. The new DC Comics website will be a home to all things related to DC Entertainment. Instead of message boards, the new website will include different community features, such as increased integration with social media. DC Comics current blogs lack the ability for fans to comment, but the new website will incorporate comments hosted by Facebook. Real-time Twitter feeds will also be integrated throughout the new website. In making the announcement about the closure of the DC Comics message boards, DC Comics recommended that active message board member save their favorite conversations. DC Comics also pointed out that fans would still be able to participate in conversations about the latest announcements through the new social media features. As might be expected, the decision to shut down the message boards is already generating some controversy on the message boards themselves.
