NBCUniversal has released the first teaser video for their new Berserk anime.

The video, which debuted at Comiket 89, lists a 2016 release date, but still does not reveal the anime's format.

Check it out below.

The Berserk fantasy manga, created by Kentarou Miura, was already adapted into an anime series in 1997. The new series will show protagonist Guts in his "Black Swordsman" appearance, which first appeared later in the manga than the original anime covered.

The 2012 HD remaster of the 1997 Berserk series is also getting a new Blu-ray release, set for April 20 in Japan.

Meanwhile, the Berserk manga will go on hiatus, with the next chapter arriving around the summer of 2016. Berserk will then resume an "irregular" publishing schedule.

The manga is currently on its 37th collected volume, and is published in the United States by Dark Horse.
