Game Of Thrones is the most highly viewed series in the history of HBO, but fans will only get to enjoy the world of Westeros for two more seasons.

Well, maybe not all of Westeros.

The success of the George R.R. Martin fantasy adaptations has been unparalleled in recent memory, and fans from around the globe have called for more of the series. While the story won't go past the eighth season, in an effort to preserve the integrity of the source material, we could see a number of spin-offs in the future.

While at the premiere of HBO's newest series, Westworld, HBO programming president Casey Bloys had this to say regarding the future of the Game of Thrones Universe:

"There are so many properties and areas to go to...For us, it's about finding the right take with the right writer."

The network would be hard-pressed to pass on a guaranteed money-maker, but they are definitely conscious of creating quality television. Not wanting to ruin the name of a franchise, they're choosing to be patient, and wait for the right opportunity.

A large part of the success of Game of Thrones' success can be attributed to its show-runners, D.B. Weiss and David Benioff. When asked about the possibility of their return for a spin-off, Benioff was quick to shoot it down.

"You might want to ask George [R.R. Martin] about that. It's a great world George created and a very rich world....I'm sure there will be other series set in Westeros, but for us this is it."

It's understandable that the producers wouldn't want to return after eight years, as the series is one of the largest productions on the planet. With the workload of a blockbuster film, and the time commitment of a televsion program, Game of Thrones can steal your life away.

Benioff and Weiss may not want want to return to the world of Thrones, but Casey Bloys thinks otherwise.

"You're getting them right when they're about to embark on production. It's a big, big commitment for them, not just their creative force, but also their family life. They're gone for months at a time. So it's a big, big thing. But should we find a property that makes sense as a spinoff or a prequel — whatever you want to say — I would not expect them to do it, because they're going to need to decompress for a good amount of time, but it would certainly be nice to have their involvement in some way. At what level? I have no idea."

Whatever happens, fans can expect another dive into the world of Game of Thrones at some point in the future. Whether it's a prequel, or a spin-off series, there is more of Westeros to come.

Don't rush it, though, Game of Thrones is starting to heat up. We wouldn't want to spoil our dinner with all that talk of dessert.
