New Transformers: Age of Extinction TV Spot - Is that Unicron?

Who is the ancient evil awakened in Transformers: Age of Extinction? 

Well, there are two big, obvious answers that have been staring fans in the face for months and while they've had simmering suspicions for a while, a TV spot released this week seems to have thrown everyone into a speculative frenzy.

The new spot shows Lockdown monologuing at Optimus Prime, and a group of Decepticons crawling off of a structure that many fans think looks suspiciously like Unicron.

You can see an old image of Unicron at left; fans have noted that the "teeth" Unicron uses to grip the planets he eats look quite a bit like the pointed structures that open out of the Decepticon transport above.

Unicron, a massive, ancient Transformer that eats planets, first appeared in Transformers the Movie and was responsible for upgrading the dying Megatron into Galvatron as he floated helplessly through space. Equipping him with an army of new followers, Unicron enabled Galvatron to return to Earth in order to retake control of the Decepticon forces from Starscream and attempt to destroy the Autobot Matrix of Leadership.

He's been seen periodically since, although like comic book heavies Doomsday and Bane, he's mostly tied to that one major story in the minds of fans. When it became clear that Galvatron would appear in the film, old rumors that Unicron would play a role began to seem more plausible.

As we saw in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, live-action Hollywood movies still have a hard time with living beings large enough to cast a shadow over the planet, so the idea of a massive, evil Transformer large enough to carry around other Transformers turning out to be the Bayformers version of Unicron doesn't seem so far out.

The other thing that's stoking some conversation in that TV spot is a remark that "you think you were born? You were built..." -- a remark some are thinking might mean the introduction of the Quintessence, another race that appeared for the first time in Transformers the Movie but which ultimately turned out to be the race responsible for the creation of the Autobots and Decepticons.
