The first cover for Dark Knight III: The Master Race #1 was officially revealed in a press release by DC Comics today. The cover is a variant that will feature comic book shop's logos prominently for them to sell at their own stores.

Dave Johnson drew the cover off a sketch design by Jim Lee. It's evocative of another famous meeting between Batman and The Joker, as Joker lies on the pavement and Batman stands over him in the rain. Batman slightly menacingly looks up at the reader, as well - did... did we all anger Batman? Are we next?

Johnson and Lee add to the already star-studded affair for Dark Knight III, the third and final chapter in the Dark Knight Returns story. The book is written by Frank Miller and Brian Azzarello, and being drawn by Andy Kubert and Klaus Janson. The comic, scheduled for a November 25, 2015 release, will feature "several retail variant covers" in addition to this one, with more yet to be revealed.
