Tonight's episode of The Flash is one of the best of the season, and certainly the most entertaining and engaging hour of the series since Mark Hamill's guest appearance on "Tricksters."
Airing in half an hour, "The Trap" finally sees the team truly dealing with the recent revelation that they've been manipulated by the Reverse-Flash all along. What they'll do with that information? Well, you'll have to watch to find out, but we can say that there are plenty of DC references along the way, including one very subtle one that plays a pretty big role in the plot.
So if you're into that kind of thing, and history suggests our readers are, you should enjoy "The Trap."
There will be some questions left over after the episode wraps, including one that goes back to Barry's quetion from a few weeks ago about who he can trust.
There is also a new status quo set up for the episode, and one event in the episode that is pretty easily under-analyzed, with ramifications that explain pretty clearly why it is that Barry will be seeking help from Firestorm and the Arrow by the time the season is out.
There are some pretty great performances all around, although special kudos should go out to Carlos Valdes (Cisco Ramon) and Jesse L. Martin (Joe West), both of whom give layered, heartfelt performances. Neither gets a ton of camera time this week, so while the script is solid, they deserve a lot of credit for how much they were able to do in the few minutes they were on the screen.
Check it out in just a little while, 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
