Warner Brothers is looking bring the family of the future to the big screen.
The Hanna Barbera series, The Jetsons, is being adapted for an animated theatrical feature. Matt Liberman has been tapped to pen the script, Deadline reports.
Warner Brothers owns the library, which was procured by Ted Turner before he sold his company to Warner Brothers.
Originating in 1962, The Jetsons was the futuristic answer to the stone-age The Flinstones. The series revolved around the misadventures of a space-age family: George, his wife Jane and their children Judy and Elroy. The cartoon originally aired in prime time from 1962 to 1963, then later in syndication for new episodes from 1985 to 1987 as well.
Reruns of the cartoon can be seen on Boomerang.
