We’re all super-excited for 20th Century Fox’s R-rated Deadpool movie to be released, but let’s not forget — even if we’d like to — that Deadpool/Wade Wilson (played by Ryan Reynolds) made his feature film debut in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine. To help remind you of this, I happened to come across some storyboards of a fight sequence between Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) and Deadpool that was not used in the film that I would like to share.

In the film, Wolverine and Deadpool clash by the exit of Stryker’s facility on Three Mile Island. After a few minutes it cuts to Kayla leading the other mutants out of the facility and when it cuts back to the Wolverine-Deadpool fight we see Logan racing up to the top of the cooling tower — taking the fight up there for no apparent reason. Deadpool follows and Wolverine teams up with his brother, Victor Creed, to put a stop to the Merc with a Sewn-Up Mouth.

In these unused storyboards, created by artist Ricardo Delgado (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Jurassic Park III), we see Deadpool chasing after Wolverine at the base of the cooling tower. Deadpool shoots beams of energy from his eyes at Wolverine, which Logan dodges as he climbs up the side of the tower with his adamantium claws. Deadpool then climbs up the side of the tower with his katanas. Eventually, Wolverine ends up on the inside of the tower and breaks a chunk of concrete right at the moment Deadpool happens to have his katanas embedded on the other side of it. As he falls, he uses his teleporting abilities for the first time to end up on top of the tower. Surprise!

Check out all of the storyboards from this scene in our gallery at the bottom of the page.

This pulse-pounding action thriller sinks razor-sharp adamantium claws into the mysterious origins of Logan/Wolverine (Hugh Jackman). Discover his epically violent and romantic past, his complex relationship with Victor Creed/Sabretooth (Liev Schreiber), the ominous Weapon X program that unleashes his primal fury, and his encounters with legendary new mutants, including Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds)!

Deadpool hits theaters on Feb. 12, 2016.
