TWD Eugene Bite

Sunday's episode of The Walking Dead was all but a warm welcome for newcomer Dwight, played by Austin Amelio. Reappearing after his introduction back in the first half of the season, Dwight (or "D") showed up for a kill with a harshly burnt face.

Rosita, Daryl, and Dwight's hostage Eugene were seemingly backed against a wall. That was until Eugene thought up an escape route which, for lack of better pun, meant biting D.

"A lot of people think they would be Daryl in the show and in the apocalypse," says Eugene actor Josh McDermitt. "But my guess is the majority of the people trying to survive are going to be like Eugene. Just scared, no survival skills, hoping someone like Daryl or Abraham protects them."

Though the scene was quite intense the cast and crew made sure to have some fun with it. "It's like, 'Hey, welcome to The Walking Dead. We're going to bite you,'" McDermitt says of Amelio's fate.

Daryl Dixon actor Norman Reedus is known for being a prankster on set and he kept the reputation alive. The actor ordered a hot dog truck to celebrate Eugene's heroics during their breaks.

"They were like, 'As long as we're biting weenies we might as well bite some weenies for a snack.'" says McDermitt.

Daryl's Dogs was open for business.

The Walking Dead has two episodes remaining in its sixth season, airing Sunday's at 9 PM ET on AMC.
