Walt Disney Studios announced today that principal photography has begun on Tomorrowland, the studio's latest film to be adapted from one of their theme park rides. The science-fiction action film will star George Clooney, Hugh Laurie, and Britt Robertson. It's slated for a December 2014 release date. It's written by Damon Lindelof and directed by Brad Bird--a combination that briefly had some observers convinced that the top-secret project might turn out to be a Star Wars film. Bound by a shared destiny, a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity and a former boy-genius inventor jaded by disillusionment embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space that exists in their collective memory as "Tomorrowland."
