Variety is reporting that Ian Kenny, who is best known for his role in the 2016 film Sing Street, has officially joined the Star Wars anthology film. Aside from Sing Street, Kenny’s filmography is relatively small, with a short film and a recurring role on the Irish television series Fair City being his other two credits.
It’s unclear exactly what his role in the film will be – as is the case with much of the ensemble cast – but it is worth noting that he does bare some resemblance to the film’s star, Alden Ehrenreich. While the recent hint from Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed that the film will chronicle the title character from ages eighteen to twenty-four, it wouldn’t be completely implausible to see Kenny play a younger version of Han Solo – or someone tied to his family – in some sort of flashback.
Of course, that’s purely speculation at this point, especially considering how little is known about the film, as well as the expansive amount of possibilities for characters in the Star Wars universe. Fans will just have to wait and see exactly what role Kenny plays within the film.

Han Solo: A Star Wars Story is filming now under directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller for a May 25, 2018 release. Alden Ehrenreich stars as a young Han Solo and Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca in the era before Star Wars: A New Hope, before they met Leia and Luke and embarked on a galaxy-saving adventure. Donald Glover also stars as Lando Calrissian, with Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Emilia Clarke in as-yet-unrevealed co-starring roles.
