It’s not just official Star Wars cast members who are getting in on the fun of Star Wars Day on May the 4th – it’s apparently anyone even tangentially related to the franchise’s characters, in any way.

Case in point: Rosario Dawson. The Sin City and Marvel Netflix star has strong geek roots, including being a repeated pick for a particular role in the Star Wars universe: Anakin Skywalker’s young Padawan (and fan-fav character), Ahsoka Tano.

Dawson has been openly campaigning to play Ahsoka since earlier this year, and needless to say, there’s been plenty of fan support behind the idea.

In honor of May The 4th, one Star Wars fan offered up a version of Ahsoka that Dawnson could bring to life in the live-action Star Wars universe – and the actress herself went on to endorse the idea:

The custodian character that the fan alludes to was something that Star Wars got to see during the Clone Wars animated series. The famous Mortis story arc saw Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka and Obi-Wan drawn into a realm called “Mortis,” a realm within The Force that existed outside of the physical universe. In that realm were three beings, The Father, The Son and The Daughter. The Son wielded the energy of the dark side; the daughter had the energy of the light side; and The Father maintained the balance of The Force, between them. The trio were destroyed during the battle with The Jedi. In short: Mortis and the Father, Son, Daughter trio are the conduit through which The Force flows into our universe.

Having Ahsoka become the new custodian of Mortis would be a smart way to keep the character in a prominent position within the Star Wars universe, but also explain the character’s absence in the Original Trilogy.

Star Wars fans, what say you?
