A new South Park episode is finally going to be releasing after its sudden last minute delay from last week, and the first look has been revealed ahead of its premiere. South Park has been going through a very bumpy road this year as not only was Season 27’s initial debut delayed a few weeks thanks to troubles between Paramount and its creators over its streaming licensing rights, but episodes since have been releasing on a bi-weekly basis. This all changed with the scheduled episode set to premiere last week being delayed another week right when it was supposed to hit.

South Park Season 27 Episode 5 was originally scheduled to release on Wednesday, September 17th, but was delayed from broadcast until its new release date of tonight, Wednesday, September 24th. Premiering with Comedy Central at 10PM ET and streaming with Paramount+ the next day, South Park has dropped the first look at its next episode teasing a new conflict between Kyle and Cartman when a new app starts to run rampant throughout the school. Check out the preview images from the episode below.
How to Watch South Park Season 27 Episode 5

South Park Season 27 Episode 5 will be premiering on Comedy Central on Wednesday, September 24th at 10PM ET. The episode is titled “Conflict of Interest,” and the synopsis for it teases it as such, “Kyle and Cartman are at odds when a prediction markets app gets popular with their fellow students.” The synopsis is certainly a change from previous episodes as this will be the first new episode of the season to have Kyle and Cartman interact in the same story. They’ve been largely separated thus far, so this is going to be a welcome shift from the rest of the season and hopefully a sign of changes moving forward.
As for why the episode was delayed at the last minute, South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker shared the following statement with Paramount when the delay was announced, “Apparently when you do everything at the last minute sometimes you donโt get it done,” the creators stated. “This oneโs on us. We didnโt get it done in time. Thanks to Comedy Central andย South Parkย fans for being so understanding. Tune in next week!” In a later interview with The Denver Post, Stone reaffirmed this with, “Noย one pulled the episode, no one censored us, and you know weโd say so if true,” Stone revealed. “We just didnโt get it done. When you always cut it close, sometimes you mess up. Thatโs the price of being a procrastinator.”
South Park Season 27’s New Episode Schedule Revealed

If there are no further delays in the coming weeks, Comedy Central has already laid out the release schedule for the rest of South Park‘s episodes for Season 27. It breaks down as such:
- Episode 5 โ September 24th
- Episode 6 โ October 15th
- Episode 7 โ October 29th
- Episode 8 โ November 12th
- Episode 9 โ November 26th
- Episode 10 โ December 10th
This schedule confirmed that there will be ten episodes in the new season overall, which is also another welcome change for the animated series as the last few seasons have been released with much less thanks to the specials that had been produced with Paramount+ at the same time. Episode 5 is lined up with this previously announced schedule, so fingers crossed that the others will hit at their scheduled times in the coming weeks too.
