South Park has been hit by a last-minute delay as not only will there not be a new episode tonight, but a wholly new schedule has been revealed for the rest of Season 27’s run. South Park Season 27 has had a strange run since it kicked off earlier this Summer as not only was its original premiere date pushed back a couple of weeks due to the ongoing licensing talks between Paramount and series creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, but new episodes have been releasing on a bi-weekly basis ever since. But that’s all changed this week with a huge delay.

Comedy Central has officially announced that South Park Season 27 Episode 5 will not be airing on Wednesday, September 17th as originally advertised. Instead, it will now be releasing a week later on Wednesday, September 24th 10pm ET/PTย and streaming with Paramount+ the next day. But with the announcement of this last-minute delay for the next episode, Comedy Central has also laid out the new release schedule for the rest of the season as it will be airing through to December.
South Park Season 27 Reveals New Release Schedule Following Delays

As detailed via press release, Comedy Central’s new schedule for South Park’s remaining episodes of the season now confirms it will be airing through to December, but will likely come as a bummer to fans who were hoping to see them release closer together. The new schedule for its future episodes breaks down as such:
- Episode 5 – September 24th
- Episode 6 – October 15th
- Episode 7 – October 29th
- Episode 8 – November 12th
- Episode 9 – November 26th
- Episode 10 – December 10th
This schedule for South Park Season 27’s future does have some good news, however. Each episode will continue airing on Wednesdays at 10PM ET with Comedy Central (before being available to stream with Paramount+), but it also confirms that it will be ten episodes in total. This is a huge shift from previous seasons that had far fewer, so it’s going to be one of the longest seasons in a while in both length of duration and number of episodes available overall. Hopefully, this will also mean that the creative team will have more room to explore its characters in the ways that fans had been hoping to see with its big comeback to TV screens.
What Does This Mean for South Park’s Future?

South Park creators Trey Park and Matt Stone shared a special message apologizing to fans about the last-minute delay as well. “Apparently when you do everything at the last minute sometimes you donโt get it done,” said the creators. “This oneโs on us. We didnโt get it done in time. Thanks to Comedy Central andย South Parkย fans for being so understanding. Tune in next week!” The creators just couldn’t get tonight’s episode done on time, so now they have an extra week to work on it.
With this schedule being more firmly cemented in place for the rest of the season, it’s likely that South Park won’t be delaying future episodes any further. There’s a chance that another delay could end up happening as the series continues to push boundaries of production and release times, but at least now there’s a firm calendar in place for the rest of the season moving forward.
