It looks like master mechanic Betty Cooper will be making an appearance in Riverdale after all!
"Whether it's in the comics or on #Riverdale, Betty Cooper is the queen of fixing cars," the caption reads.
For those not familiar with the comics, Betty Cooper is very much the accomplished girl next door with a wide range of interests and talents including being very good at fixing cars. She's frequently shown in comics helping Archie when his car breaks down. While Riverdale has hinted that Betty has mechanical skills the photo marks the first time we've seen Betty doing more than just breaking into Mrs. Grundy's car.
Established skillset aside, it's not clear why Betty and Jughead are in the garage. It's possible that Betty could be joining Jughead as a way of spending time with him to keep him away from possible rival for Jughead's attentions, Toni Topaz. Toni's actor, Vanessa Morgan, recently revealed that Toni will be forming a bond with Jughead as a fellow Southside Serpent and friend which could spell trouble for the "Bughead" relationship.
Whatever the reason Betty's under the hood, she looks comfortable and confident and can no doubt add mechanic to her very impressive list of accomplishments along with student journalist, mystery solver and River Vixen.
Riverdale's second season will premiere on a new night, on Wednesday, October 11th, at 8/7c, on The CW.
As the town breathed a collective sigh of relief that Jason's killer had been found out, another terrible crime occurred, in a space that had been considered one of the town's safest, most innocent places. If Jason Blossom's murder revealed the slimy underbelly beneath Riverdale's surface, as we enter Season Two, the shooting of Fred Andrews threatens to plunge the entire town into utter darkness.
