In an interview with MTV News, famed horror novelist Stephen King hinted that the feature film adaptation of "The Stand" may not stay contained to one film after all.

While promoting the film adaptation of "A Good Marriage," King mentioned how pleased he was with The Stand's screen development thus far, saying "I think that his [director Josh Boone] take is terrific--and don't count on it being one film."

Up until this point, it was rumored that Boone's adaptation--which he is also writing--would only last a single film. That's not a lot of space to fit a story that spans more than 1,000 pages.

Just how long might this series be, then? King's not saying just yet, only teasing that, "There's talk about doing it in an entirely different and innovative way, and I don't want to go into it because that's Josh's baby."

Without a release date set for the film just yet, it may be a while before further details surface--allowing plenty of time to read the massive novel first.
