A dog whose photograph went viral on social media has been added to the cast of Michael Bay's Transformers: The Last Knight, according to Hollywood.com.

Freya, dubbed "Britian's lonliest dog" by Mirror, is an epileptic Staffordshire bull terrier who lived for six years in a Liverpool no-kill shelter, never being chosen as the dog to go to a happy home.

Michael Bay saw her story in Mirror and decided that he just had to have the dog in his movie...and promised that once production is finished, he would either find the dog a home or take her home with him:

The Last Knight title is likely a reference to the Knights of Cybertron which were alluded to in the most recent Transformers installment, Age of Exctinction.

Production of The Last Knight is set to begin June 6 in Detroit with other locations scheduled around the world. "Having one of the highest-profile film franchises created in Michigan is a major economic boost and a testament to the talent of the state's production community," said Jenell Leonard, commissioner of the Michigan Film & Digital Media Office when production plans were first revealed. "The production and economic investment is now happening sooner rather than later, and obviously, the project is a certainty rather than merely a possibility."

Mark Wahlberg is returning to the franchise after debuting in 2014's film as Cade Yaeger, along with Josh Duhamel. They will be joined by Isabela Moner and Jerrod Carmichael. Michael Bay will return to director the film written by Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, and Ken Nolan. Besides Freya, the filmmakers also recently added Anthony Hopkins to the cast.

Transformer: The Last Knight is set for release June 23, 2017.
