Godzilla is back -- and more or less the way you remember him!

Godzilla fansite Skreeonk has released a first look at concept art from Godzilla: Resurgence, TOHO's first new Godzilla movie since 2004s Godzilla: Final Wars.

The pages feature initial concepts by Mahiro Maeda (前田 真宏 Maeda Mahiro), an acclaimed artist best known for his animation work, per Skreeonk. They were submitted to the site by a fan who apparently has early access to the August book The Art of Shin Godzilla Resurgence.

This isn't the first time that a look at Godzilla has leaked online during the run-up to Resurgence. Early looks at the character came in the form of unauthorized images on social media, which TOHO later essentially verified when they released a trailer for the film.

Even though Gareth Edwards' Godzilla did well enough to ensure that the U.S. franchise will continue for the time being, Japan's TOHO is making a new Godzilla movie for the behemoth's native market as well.

That also means it will beat Universal and Legendary's 2018 installment to theaters, with a U.S. release teased but no official details yet available. Meanwhile, Legendary's take is going nuclear (no pun intended, introducing King Kong into the franchise and pitting the two iconic monsters against one another.

God Warrior Appears in Tokyo filmmakers Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi are co-directing Godzilla: Resurgence, based on a script written by Anno.

Godzilla: Resurgence is scheduled to be released in Japan on July 29, 2016 in IMAX, 4DX, and MX4D formats.
