It only took a complete six seasons and detours at every possible spot along the way but Daenerys is finally on her way to Westeros at the conclusion of Game of Thrones' sixth season.

Spoilers for the Game of Thrones season six finale follow.

As Dany departed from Mereen, Westeros saw some major shake-ups. A massive explosion, part of Cersei's master plan, took out the Faith and Queen Margaery leading to the suicide of Cersei's King son, Tommen. Cersei Lannister claimed the Iron Throne in King's Landing. However, more satisfyingly, Jon Snow became the King in the North like his older brother Robb as leaders rallied around him and Sansa's lead.

With Jon Snow in charge of the North, we also learned his parentage. Not only is Jon a Stark but he is also a Targaryen relative of Daenerys. Should Jon's parentage of Lyanna Stark and Rheagar Targaryen be revealed to anyone other than Bran Stark (who discovered it through a vision), the world will see that Jon has more of a claim to the Iron Throne than Daenerys.

When asked if she thinks Jon and Daenerys will ever meet, Daenerys actress Emilia Clarke quickly says, "Yup, but I just don't know."

It's anybody's guess what will happen when the two natural-born leaders collide. "Those rumors have never been substantiated within the Game of Thrones circle," Clarke explains. "It's never been said. So I don't know. I could kill him. He could kill me. He could be dead before we even meet. I could be dead before we even meet. Arya could kill us both! You never know! Anything's possible. All I know is winter is coming … and I'm bringing the heat!"

Westeros will certainly need the heat when the White Walkers and their army of the dead manage to breach the Wall and move south.

Game of Thrones will return for its seventh season in 2017.
