Daniel Radcliffe Hasn't Ruled Out Possibility Of Playing Harry Potter Again

The Harry Potter universe is seeing a big upswing in activity in 2016. The eighth Harry Potter story, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, is opening as a stage play in London, and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will bring the wizarding world back to cinemas. For some, though, no play or film will ever match the magic of seeing Daniel Radcliffe play Harry on the big screen, which he did in all eight of Warner Bros.' Harry Potter films. Those fans should take some amount of solace in the fact that, while there are no current plans to do so, Radcliffe hasn't ruled out the possibility of reprising his role as "the boy who lived."

"It would depend on the script," Radcliffe told Radio Times. "The circumstances would have to be pretty extraordinary. But then I am sure Harrison Ford said that with Han Solo and look what happened there! So I am saying, 'No,' for now but leaving room to backtrack in the future."

The comparison to Ford is potentially a pretty apt one. Ford reprised his role as Solo for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which was set decades after Ford's last appearance as the character in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. Similarly, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is set 19 years after what was previously the last Harry Potter story, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Perhaps once a couple of decades have passed Radcliffe will be more interested in portraying his character as an older man for a film adaptation of the play. We'll have to wait and see how he feels once 2030 rolls around.

Radcliffe's latest is Now You See Me 2, in which he plays a different kind of magician. The film is now playing in theaters.
