The Saw franchise, famous for brutally killing almost every character featured in it, refuses to follow the same fate. An eighth installment is still very much alive.

Saw: Legacy has been listed as filming in Toronto this September, according to a listing found on IATSE873, which is a site that supports a union of stage, theater, and filmmaking employees. The post does not have a director in place yet but lists Dan Heffner and Oren Koules as producers.

Heffner and Koules have produced all seven preceding Saw films. Whether or not the franchise creators Leigh Whannell and James Wan will find themselves involved with the project is to be seen. Wan recently wrapped up work on The Conjuring 2 and is heading up 2018's Aquaman movie. Whannell has been acting in the Insidious franchise and has Keep Watching set for release later this year.

The Legacy title seems to imply someone will be taking up Jigsaw's place and performing his work even after he is gone, however, some speculation seems to theorize that Legacy could be a prequel or origin story for the menacing mastermind. What would you like to see in Saw: Legacy?
