Stranger Things Season 2 officially started filming yesterday! This past summer the hit sci-fi horror series from visionary showrunners the Duffer brothers took viewers by complete suprise and quickly became wildly popular.

Audiences fell in love with the impressive cast of young characters, the extremely mysterious supernatural storyline, and even all of the burning questions that still keep us awake at night.

The first season, which is full of '80s throwbacks and horror nods, was only eight episodes long, but that still gave viewers just enough time to connect with its outcast yet relatable pre-teen characters, while diving deep into the story. Stranger Things Season 2 will be a cinematic 9 episodes and debut in 2017 as confirmed by the first official teaser.

In an interview with Collider, director Shawn Levy confirmed he is returning for season 2, disusses the main plot and teases what's to come for Stranger Things season 3:

"Yes, we are a little superstitious so just like last year, they're [the Duffer brothers] doing 1 and 2, I'm going in and doing 3 and 4. So the first four are gonna kick off exactly the same as last time… I am going to start prepping right around Thanksgiving and I'll be filming my episodes through December and January."

He explained that they had a fun reveal planned to announce Eleven's (Millie Bobby Brown) return after last season left her lost and Eggo-less - but she was spotted in Atlanta:

"We are filming in Atlanta again. I feel like that's how the Millie Brown thing leaked because someone saw her trick r treating in Atlanta. I was so bummed about that because Netflix had this really clever idea of taking a picture at our table read last week and posting it upside down, which is what we did. But then like two days before our clever idea got to debut, a bunch of places were reporting that Millie was gonna be a part of Season 2."

Levy says that the main overarching plot of Stranger Things Season 2 will be the core cast of characters trying to return to normalcy, but failing - especially when it comes to Will Byers (who was most affected by The Upside Down) and his family:

"...there are several new characters who I think several of them are going to be new fan-favorites because they're great, great new characters. But we are definitely sticking primarily with our core group, and what is different, how are they changed from the experience of last season… maybe 'normal' is never possible again."

If you watched Stranger Things, you remember the very last episode involved Will Byers being rescued from an alternate dimension, being checked out at the hospital, and returning home to his friends and family.

But he did have a terrifying vision of The Upside Down right before he puked up a slimy black slug into the bathroom sink.

Levy explains that the plot of Stranger Things Season 2 will focus on Will's struggle:

"Will Byers was in that Upside Down for a while. So Season 2 is about this determined desire to return to normalcy in Hawkins, in the Byers family, in that group of friends, and it's the struggle to reclaim normalcy and maybe the impossibility of it."

And as for Season 3, it sounds like it's already in development or at least the creative phase:

"We are not gonna be caught off guard and we don't wanna be making stuff up like the day before we have to write it and make it, so we are definitely optimistic and we have started thinking ahead."

That sounds like a confirmation to us, especially since the Duffer brothers have already said they have enough material for a full five seasons of Stranger Things.

The Hype for the show has yet to die down and honestly we don't think it will, especially since Stranger Things season 2 promises to take us deeper into Hawkins Lab and The Upside Down, all while being "Next-level crazy!"
