WARNING: Spoilers Ahead For The Walking Dead Season Seven!
It's no secret that The Walking Dead is a time-consuming endeavor, especially when you're one of the show's leads. Why do you think Andrew Lincoln or Lauren Cohan are rarely seen in other projects?
This is the main reason behind Heath's disappearance on the show. Corey Hawkins blew up after his role as Dr Dre in Straight Outta Compton, and he nabbed the lead role in the 24 reboot for Fox.
Yesterday, Sonequa Martin-Green - who plays Sasha on the show - was announced as the lead for the new CBS series, Star Trek: Discovery.
There certainly isn't time to star in both The Walking Dead and Star Trek, so something has got to give. Seeing as how Discovery is just beginning, it looks like she will have to sacrifice her time on TWD. While the casting doesn't officially mean Sasha will die, it certainly adds to the writing that's been waiting on the wall all season.
Sasha wasn't around in the comics, but she's started to take the direction of a certain character that was never fully utilized on the show - Holly.
In the comics, Holly was a resident of Alexandria, and she ended up falling for Abraham. The two characters bonded of being similarly hardcore folks - much like Sasha and Abraham did on the show. After Abraham's death, Holly stepped up to help take the fight to Negan's front door.
The conflict with Negan gave Holly a new motivation that the character hadn't seen before, and it caused her to become sacrificial. The same story is being played out with Sasha on the show.
Holly ends up volunteering to drive a truck into the Sanctuary gates, letting a herd of walkers in and setting up a certain death. Negan saves her from the wreckage, tortures her, and ends up sending her back to Rick with a bag over her head. The exchange was supposed to be a prisoner deal, but Negan turned Holly into a zombie first, and this caused another death when the survivors removed Holly's canvas mask.

Since Abraham's death, and Sasha's actions in the following episodes, it stands to reason that she will suffer a similar fate to Holly. The scenes featuring Holly in the comics are incredibly important to the story, and it's hard to think that the show would skip out on that.
Obviously, none of this guarantees Sasha will die, but it seems to be inevitable.
