Many anime are full of scenes that evoke strong emotions in its audience. Whether it's cheering for the triumph of a major character as he achieves the impossible, wiping eyes after a tragic death, or clenching your fists during an epic battle. But what are some of the saddest moments in anime, and which shows make the viewers bring out the tissues? Charapedia asked its Japanese anime fans to name the show that they can't watch without getting choked up. The Japanese website is known for doing 1000 anime fan polls, asking questions about anime and manga.

This poll went out to 10,000 readers, and received 44 title suggestions by the voters. The voters were 59.4% male and 68.5% in their teens and 20s. The website made a top 20 list of the aggregate vote, which included shows such as Attack on Titan, and Tokyo Ghoul. But there were many shows that surprisingly didn't make the list.
