Marvel has just released a new image of Doctor Strange that they will be handing out in poster form at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. The image, created by artist Ryan Meinerding, shows star Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange wielding his mystic power.

The image debuted at Entertainment Weekly, who also asked Cumberbatch about the similarities and differences between playing Stephen Strange and playing his breakout role, Sherlock Holmes, in the BBC drama Sherlock.
“The two men are intelligent,” says Cumberbatch. “Finito. That’s it. Stephen Strange is a lover, he’s a materialist, he’s arrogant, but he’s got a great sense of humor. There are smatterings of the same colors that Sherlock has, but he’s not on the spectrum.”
San Diego Comic-Con 2016 takes place July 21-24, 2016 at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, California.
Marvel’s Doctor Strange follows surgeon Stephen Strange as he seeks wisdom from the Ancient One after a career-ending accident and discovers a world of magic and power that he never knew existed.
Not much else is known about the film’s plot, but the prequel comic released by Marvel in July revealed that Mads Mikkelsen is playing the villain named Kaecillius.
Marvel’s Doctor Strange is directed by Scott Derrickson, who co-wrote the screenplay with C. Robert Cargill and Jon Spaihts. The film stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Stephen Strange, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Karl Mordo, Rachel McAdams , Michael Stuhlbarg as Nicodemus West, Mads Mikkelsen as Kaecillius, and Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One.
