Marvel Legacy sets up a variety of future storylines, and that includes the recently returned Captain America, Steve Rogers.

Slight spoilers incoming for Marvel Legacy #1, and major spoilers for the "Secret Empire" event, so if you haven't read those yet you've been warned.

Marvel Legacy #1 presents a Steve Rogers who is rather lost. A homecoming is supposed to present the opposite as a benefit, but while this world is familiar, Rogers' place in it is vastly different than before.

As you likely know, all that is thanks to the actions of Hydra Cap, who used his face and name to seize control of the country, remaking it in Hydra's image. While people know the original Cap isn't responsible for those actions, it doesn't keep some from laying blame at his doorstep.

His appearance in Legacy is brief but sets the tone for his upcoming series with Mark Waid and Chris Samnee at the helm. Cap sits at a diner in an unknown location, listening to the news as the media questions where he is, calling Hydra Cap his "supposed doppelganger."

His backpack can be seen on the stool next to him, with his shield inside it, and when asked where he is headed he responds, "Wish I knew Ma'am."

While his journey will take him to parts unknown, he will soon be the only Captain America once again.

That is due to some changes coming for the current Captain America, Sam Wilson, who put on the costume once more during "Secret Empire" to lead the heroes against Hydra. In his battle alongside Thor and Ironheart, the narrator mentions that, "with the real Steve Rogers finally back, Sam's ready to let go of the shield and be his own man again."

He will once again be assuming the Falcon identity, and indicators point to him going solo for awhile. That means the real Steve Rogers is set to travel this road of redemption on his own, and Cap certainly has a big job of ahead of him.
