Saturday at New York Comic Con, actor and MMA fighter Jason David Frank made his debut as Bloodshot in the trailer for Ninjak vs. The Valiant Universe. However, even as Frank begins this exciting new role, many fans still remember him most fondly as Tommy Oliver, the Green Ranger from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

Frank's days of playing the Green Ranger may not be entirely behind him. He's already reprised the role for episodes of Super Power Beatdown, a web series by Aaron Schoenke, who is also directing Ninjak vs. The Valiant Universe. But Frank has, on various occasions, expressed interest in a Power Rangers spinoff movie or series that would focus solely on the Green Ranger. According to Frank, those plans are still on the table.

During a visit to the set of Ninjak vs. the Valiant Universe, ComicBook.com spoke to Frank about how he and Schoenke first came to work together, which eventually led to him being cast as Bloodshot.

"I worked with Aaron quite a few times on Bat in the Sun," Frank said. "Working with Aaron, I thought it was one of those things where he came and was like, 'Hey, I'd love to work with you on the White Ranger versus Scorpion.' I didn't even get a chance to see his work. I just thought he was a really nice guy. I thought it was like just good timing and I like helping people. I was like, 'Yeah, I'll do it.'

"He came to the house and we talked about the Green Ranger series with Saban, which is not dead yet. That's still very possible with that. We started talking about that and then he just wanted to do the Super Power Beat Down. I said, 'Sure, man.' Then, I agreed, because I'm a man of my word, and then I looked at his work. I was like, 'Thank God. It's really good.' If he wasn't really good, I would still help because I committed to it. We all start at amateur some day. These guys are growing up now and they're in a position to say, 'Hey, I like Jason. I like working with him. I like to see if he would play Bloodshot.'"

Discussions with Saban may be ongoing, but Frank says he's more excited about potentially continuing in his new role as Bloodshot than anything else.

"I got a lot of big things coming out next year," Frank says. "We're talking with Saban about the Green Ranger series. I'm really more passionate about Bloodshot just because I probably put more time into it because it wasn't a Japanese footage show, Power Rangers was, so it was kind of hard to put it together. I read a lot. There's a lot I would do."

The Power Rangers franchise was thrust back into the public eye over the New York Comic Con weekend thanks to the release of the trailer for the new Power Rangers reboot movie. Power Rangers opens in theaters March 24, 2017.

Valiant Digital also made a splash with the release of the Ninjak vs. The Valiant Universe trailer. Ninjak vs. The Valiant Universe is currently in production and is expected to release in 2017.
