Experiencing the apocalypse is closer than we ever thought. The Walking Dead attraction is coming together at Universal Studios Hollywood.

"As designers of the attraction, one of the things we're always striving for is authenticity," says John Murdy, the creative director at Universal Studios Hollywood. Of course, that meant he was quite excited to work with the actual molds from The Walking Dead TV series to recreate the iconic bicycle girl from the show's pilot episode.

"We're getting a chance to do animatronic characters that we've never done before," The Walking Dead executive producer and VFX guru Greg Nicotero explains. "We're getting a chance to use molds that were created specifically for the show and translate them into parts of the attraction. It's one of a kind, state of the art. I can't wait."

The new ride is set to open on July 4, 2016, which is just over a month away. In preparation for the rides opening, the theme park has not only released the featurette video seen above, but also the poster below with the "Coming To Life" tease.

The Walking Dead has been a pop culture phenomena for years now. The comics have been in print for over a decade and the TV series is going into its seventh season. In addition to comics and TV, The Walking Dead has also been adapted into several video games and novels. The new attraction is the latest step in The Walking Dead's journey of conquering all mediums. Previously, there have been similar attractions which show up at comic conventions such as The Walking Dead Experience.

The Walking Dead will return for its seventh season in October.
