Harrington was best known for his role on the sitcom One Day at a Time, which ran for nine seasons. He starred on the series alongside actresses Valerie Bertinelli and Bonnie Franklin. He had a simultaneous recurring guest star position on The Love Boat during those same late 70s/early 80s years, though he played multiple characters on the latter series.
On the geekier side of things, Harrington did voiceover work throughout his career, notably lending his voice to both The Atom and Speedy on the Aquaman animated series in 1969. He voiced Moe howard, one of the Three Stooges, on a handful of the New Scooby-Doo Movies stories, and played “William Shakesbear” on a nineties revival of Yogi Bear.
The actor also played Stan Lee in one episode of a short-lived Kirk Cameron vehicle, Kirk.
An United States Air Force veteran of the Korean War, he is survived by a wife, four children, and four grandchildren.
