Fans of the new Pokemon GO augmented reality app were disappointed to discover the game had suffered a major crash for the fourth straight day. The mobile app, which allows fans to catch and battle Pokemon in the real world, has proved so immensely popular that the game's servers have crashed every single day since its release.
The server crashes have been a major inconvenience for fans, many of whom have eagerly waited for the game for months. Some fans have complained that the crashes have wiped their game of certain items, while others have mentioned how the crashes always seem to come when they're trying to catch rare Pokemon.
The crashes tend to hit during peak traffic hours, particularly during lunch time and the end of the workday on the East Coast. Niantic has promised a solution to the server issues and has delayed its worldwide rollout of the game until the server issues are fixed.
One bright spot is that the outages seem to grow shorter every day. While Thursday's outage lasted most of the afternoon, Friday's crashes were significantly shorter, lasting only an hour or two at a time. As the hype surrounding Pokemon GO dies down and Niantic brings in additional servers to handle the traffic, the outages should continue to subside.
